Hello, Girl Scout Junior Families!!

Thank you so much for sharing your daughters with Tracy and me.

Here are some action items:

  • Your daughter needs a costume/period clothing. As you prepare for Halloween, please keep in mind that girls voted to earn the Playing the Past badge. I prefer to use costumes and costume pieces multiple times. Perhaps you could find a costume for Halloween, if you celebrate, and for this badge. I purchased a dress at Goodwill for $5 that I plan to pair with some other items for this fun badge. We would like to go to the Sherwood Forest Faire next spring. Details to be determined.
  • The troop is going to Savannah summer 2025. We are taking current Juniors and older. This weekend, I’m attending a workshop on planning a budget trip to Savannah. Look for more info soon.

Our first meeting was fabulous. It was so good to see everyone and welcome our new Juniors. (We missed the girls who couldn’t be there.)

They voted to work on the following badges and Journey:

Digital Photography

Craft and Tinker

Playing the Past

Geocacher

Paddle Boat

Simple Meal

And the Outdoor Journey which includes 3 badges (Animal Habitat, Camper, and Eco Camper) and a Take Action Project.

At our second meeting, the Juniors earned their Safety Award. They found the door while blind-folded, checked their hands for Glo Germ with a black light, practiced Stop, Drop, and Roll

During 2023-2024, some Juniors earned the following badges:

Girl Scout Way, Citizen Scientist, Social Butterfly, Savvy Shopper, Staying Fit,, First Aid, Cookie Collaborator, Animal Habitats, Detective, STEM Career, Art & Design.

and the following Journeys:

Think Like an Engineer and AMUSE.

In order to earn the Summit Award, girls must complete 3 journeys. Here are the other journeys:

Agent of Change, GET MOVING (Explore energy), Outdoor, Think Like a Programmer, and Think Like a Citizen Scientist

We also earned the official World Thinking Day and Global Action Awards which can be earned each year and put on the front of the vest.

Thank you,

Lisa Rogers
